GREAT NORTHERN FAIR

The largest fair on the Hi-Line is held in July and has activities designed for all ages, including rodeos, 4-H projects and livestock, exhibits of all kinds, music, and a demolition derby.  A full schedule of events provides entertainment for all. Also visit their website.

HAVRE FESTIVAL DAYS
An area wide celebration which started over 20 years ago. This great weekend, with something for everyone, is always held the third weekend in September. Public events and activities include a community parade, arts & crafts, a quilt show, a dodge ball tournament and a 48 hour softball tournament.

ROCKY BOY INDIAN RESERVATION
Located southwest of Havre on Hwy 87 or straight south on Hwy 234 in the Bears Paw Mountains. The Chippewa-Cree Indians maintain a strong heritage through the annual
Pow-Wow, featuring authentic Native American dance and competition, and other activities throughout the year.

HAVRE RESIDENTIAL HISTORIC DISTRICT
A free self-guided tour. Brochures available at the Chamber of Commerce, 130 5th Ave (406) 265-4383, or the Havre-Hill County Library, 402 3rd Street, (406) 265-2123. A 36-block west side residential area was named an official Historic District in the 1980’s. Enjoy Havre’s unique blend of ethnic, railroad, farming and ranching history.

FORT BELKNAP INDIAN RESERVATION
Located 42 miles east Of Havre on Hwy. 2, the reservation is home to me tribes, the Assinniboine & the Gros Ventre. Staffs of the information center provide tours of the Mission, Snake Butte, ancient teepee rings, and the tribal buffalo pastures. For more information, call (406) 353-3311.

OLD FORTS TRAIL
The official state historic trail commemorates the main transportation and supply route that existed in the 1870’s - 1890’s. It begins at the OLD FORT PARK in Fort Benton, to Fort Assinniboine near Havre, into Saskatchewan, Canada to Fort Walsh in the Cypress Hills and Fort Battleford in Northern Saskatchewan.

SUMMER SPORTS
Havre offers numerous city league and sport association sponsored activities. Baseball, softball, bowling, tennis, golfing, volleyball, trap shooting, target shooting, soccer and swimming involve the entire community as participants and spectators.

WINTER SPORTS
In the Bears Paw Mountains, enjoy sledding, snowmobiling, ice skating, ice fishing, Bears Paw Ski bowl are all available for winter fun in and around Havre. Havre's Hockey Club finished the construction of a full size indoor hockey and ice skating rink (Ice Dome) on the south end of 5th Ave., by the Border Patrol Station.

WATER RECREATION
Public swimming is offered throughout the year at both a city pool and the college operated Olympic-sized pool.
During the summer, swimming, fishing, boating and water-skiing can be enjoyed twelve miles west of Havre at Fresno Reservoir, and fishing at Beaver Creek Park.

GOLF
The Beaver Creek Golf Course & Prairie Farms Golf Course offer a challenging nine hole layout that is open to the public. Rentals are available and the pro shop offers golfing supplies.

HEATH CLUBS
The Physical Therapy Down Under and Fitness Center offers racquetball courts, Jacuzzi, saunas, aerobics, and a weight room.
Curves For Women offers weights and exercise classes for women only.
The Zoo is a new Health Club at Holiday Village Mall.

HUNTING Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks
Hunting enthusiasts will find an abundance of upland game birds, waterfowl, whitetail deer, mule deer, elk and antelope.

1.      View the old Steam Engine and the Jim Hill Fountain at the BNSF Depot (235 Main Street).

  2.  Bird and Wildlife Watch Along the Milk River or Beaver Creek Park.

  3.  Jog around the Community or enjoy the Walking Track at Patterson Park, Optimist Park, Northern Montana Hospital Fitness Park and the Bill Baltrusch Walking Trail.

  4.  Visit one of the City’s 18 Parks and Playgrounds.  Great fun for the Kids.

5.      Take a Self-Guided Tour through Havre’s Historic Home, Downtown & Railroad Districts.

6.      Visit a Library (Havre/Hill County (402 3rd Street) and MSU-Northern (30 11th Street).

  7.  See wildflowers blooming in the Spring, Summer and Fall in Beaver Creek Park.

  8.  Visit the Havre Railroad Museum (120 3rd Avenue).

  9. Watch Amtrak and BNSF Trains pass through town from the viaduct.

10.  Tour the H. Earl Clack Museum (Holiday Village Mall).

11.View the Hands Across the Border Statue at the BNSF Depot (235 Main Street) and other community statues.

12.  Take a drive through Beaver Creek Park, coming out at Rocky Boy Reservation.

13.  View Lynden Pomeroy Steel Sculptures on MSU-Northern’s Campus (30 11th Street West and at Stockman Bank (324 3rd Avenue).

14.   Watch the Sun set from the top of a hill, and the overlook behind the Holiday Village Mall – view Milk River, Badlands, and BNSF Site.

15.  Browse through the Community’s Retail  Shops.

16.  Visit with a Havre “Local.”

17.  Take your camera to the Bear Paws and snap some beautiful photos all-year-round.

18.  Take a swim at Fresno or cast a line on a summer afternoon.

19.  Try your skills at the Skate Board Park (east end of 9th Street).

20.  Enjoy the openness of the area while walking the Bill Baltrusch Nature Trail (south end of 12th Avenue and corner of 17th Street).
