Birch Creek Schoolhouse This school was built in 1903 for the children of the ranchers on the south side of the Bear Paw mountains. Having no electric lighting in the early days. the school had six large windows in the side walls. With so much glass and no insulation, the wood stove in front of the class room was kept blazing all day. It is said that the teacher had no trouble getting the students to sit up front during the winter months. |
